Suzanne Dalton is a founding partner of Dalton Law. Prior to founding her family law firm, she practiced in one of the Province’s top family and divorce law litigation practice groups after graduating with her Juris Doctor from Allard Hall, University of British Columbia’s law school. During her time at Allard Hall, she was active as a member of the executive for the Indigenous Law Students Association, advancing awareness of Aboriginal issues. Suzanne returned to Alberta after spending numerous years in the Okanagan Valley as a business owner and being an active member of the community. Suzanne possesses experience in handling disputes of all conflict levels.
Suzanne is passionate about Family Law and is committed to assisting her clients navigate the turbulent waters of separation and divorce in the healthiest way possible by creating a forum where couples come to an appropriate solution in a cooperative way. Having come to the practice of law later in life has provided Suzanne with a wealth of practical experience from which a client can draw including business ownership, the raising of three dynamic children, and coaching individuals to achieve their highest potential. Suzanne was raised in a military family and has lived throughout Canada, the United States, and Germany and is also fluent in both French and English.
Outside the profession, Suzanne has competed in and coached mountain biking, karate, swimming, and soccer. Suzanne has also been actively involved in the Arts community as she has performed in and directed numerous theatrical performances.
Carolyn believes that a goal-oriented approach to family legal matters helps you maintain your integrity while standing up for what you need. She practices in the areas of family law, collaborative family law, mediation, arbitration, and wills and estates. Her families look to her for positive, forward-thinking legal advice and services, whether they want to settle out of court or litigate their legal issues.
Carolyn has represented clients at the Alberta Court of Justice, the Court of King’s Bench and the Court of Appeal. She is also a Registered Collaborative Family Lawyer (ACFP), Practising Mediator (AFMS/CFM), and trained Family Law Arbitrator.
Prior to practising law, Carolyn spent almost a decade managing communications for an international educational technology company, and, before that, she spent over a decade as a publisher of, among other things, children’s picture books. She is active in the 2SLGBTQ+ community, writes poetry when inspiration strikes, and makes quilts for family and friends.

After working in the real estate and mortgage brokerage field for almost a decade, Troy McLeod decide to embark on a different career trajectory by becoming a lawyer. Fast tracking his way to law school, Troy graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School in 2013. Determined to article with an Indigenous law firm, Troy relocated to Edmonton where he articled with Lionel Chartrand, a seasoned Metis criminal defence lawyer. He was called to the Alberta Bar in June 2015. Thereafter, Troy briefly practiced criminal defence law at a boutique firm in Stony Plain before opening his own criminal and child welfare firm, Bear Claw Law.
Troy is a tenacious litigator who is always striving to get the best results for his clients. He regularly appears before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King's Bench. His most recent successes include achieving an acquittal of sexual assault in a jury trial. After practicing criminal law for 9 years, Troy has decided to expand his practice into the area of family law and to join his law school friend Suzanne Dalton. Troy's many years in real estate make him particularly well suited to handle your family property matters. He also has an understanding of parenting and custody matters, having represented parents in several child welfare matters.
When he isn't working, Troy trains and competes nationally and internationally in dragon boat racing. He is also a stellar obstacle course racer, having raced at the Obstacle Course World Championships three times. Most recently, Troy has been competing in DEKA competitions, and is striving to place within the top 20 in his age group worldwide.
Chantal Stark was called to the bar in 2023 and has received both her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia. She has been working with Dalton Law since October 2022 and offers her clients knowledge in the areas of Family and Divorce Law.
While in law school, Chantal acted as the Indigenous Director of Student Affairs for the Allard Law Students’ Society as well as the Vice President of the Indigenous Law Students’ Association. Following completion of her legal studies, she chose to enter into a law adjacent career as a Contract Administrator for an entertainment company, later becoming the Manager of Legal Affairs.
Chantal’s hobbies include riding her motorcycle, going on long outdoor runs, and having a nicely chilled glass of red wine while watching reality TV.
Adriana offers over ten years of paralegal experience to her role with Dalton Law and holds a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Alberta.
Having supported divorce lawyers who practice primarily within the realm of family law since 2012, she understands the conflict and emotional burden that clients can carry throughout their legal proceedings.
Adriana offers direct support to family lawyers through every step of the file process, and can assist clients with intake, scheduling, communication, and overall organization of their matters.
Adriana enjoys travelling, yoga, and spending time exploring the great outdoors with her spouse and two italian greyhounds.
